DIISM started its activities in November 2012, when the former Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (Dipartimento di Scienze Matematiche
ed Informatiche "R. Magari" ) joined the former Department of Information Engineering (Dipartimento di Ingegneria
dell'Informazione - DII)
The Department consists of 80 scientists , whose research and education activities cover the fields ranging from engineering to
mathematics and computer sciences.
The research activities of DIISM is a combination of basic research and development of new methods and technological applications of considerable social and econom
impact. These activities extend from the mathematical sciences and the study of physical phenomena related to electromagnetism
and optics, to the development of TX-RX devices, up to the research on engineering systems for information processing -
transmission - security, to the control and process optimization, to robotics, energy distribution and biomedical systems.
DIISM offers two master (laurea magistrale) international programmes taught in English, as well as three undergraduate (laurea
triennale) and two master programmes taught in Italian. DIISM offers also one international PhD programme.
