Born the 27th of August 1987 in Siena, Italy.
B.S. degree in Computer Engineering con lode (focus on Robotics and Industrial automation) in 2009 from the University of Siena with a thesis entitled "RemoTouch - Remote tactile rendering".
From August 2010 to January 2011 visiting student at Karlstad University, Sweden.
M.S. degree in Computer Engineering con lode (focus on Robotics and Industrial automation) in 2011 from the University of Siena with a thesis entitled "Tactile feedback as a sensory subtraction technique in haptics for needle insertion".
Since January 2012, Ph.D. student at the Department of Advanced Robotics of the Italian Institute of Technology (Genova, Italy) and at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Siena, under the supervision of Prof. Domenico Prattichizzo and Prof. Darwin Caldwell.
In 2013 Visiting Ph.D. student at the Dept. of Innovation in Mechanics and Management (DIMEG), University of Padua, Padova, Italy, under the supervision of Prof. Giulio Rosati (Jan 2013).
In 2013 Visiting Ph.D. student at the Institute for Biomedical Technology and Technical Medicine (MIRA), University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands, under the supervision of Prof. Sarthak Misra (Jul 2013).

2  Research & Publications

My research activities are principally focused on
robotics:
teleoperation, design of haptic interfaces,
haptics:
cutaneous feedback, wearable haptics, haptic navigation systems,
medicine:
robot-assisted surgery, needle insertion, soft tissue modelling.
At the moment I am directly involved in the European projects WEARable HAPtics for humans and robots (WEARHAP), Active Constraints Technologies for Ill-defined or Volatile Environments (ACTIVE) and Devices for Assisted Living (DALI).
